Sequin box - Paper Issues

What is more shiny that sequins ? When browsing Pinterest a while ago I saw someone decorating a box with sequins and I thought that would be great for Christmas, so here is my Shiny thing for our Shiny & New Issue.



Here is how I did it

Start with a box - wrapped or not.  Find a lot of sequins  and start threading them onto your embroidery thread - preferably with a needle - that will save you a lot of time.

Don't cut the thread until you are completely finished, then the sequins will not fall off.  When you are happy with the amount of sequins you want to use - divide them in three parts on the thread and then start wrapping the thread around the box. You only have to make sure the sequins are on one side so you just move them to where you want to.

When you have wrapped all your threads around the box just tie a knot on the back.

Inzpira magazine for iPad and some news !!

If you didn't know, Inzpira magazine will no longer be a paper magazine, issue 6/2013 (in store Dec 23rd) will be the last. The NEW INZPIRA MAGAZINE can from now on be found as an APP in APPSTORE. Highlights from the first 3 (of 15) issues are out. In february Issue 4 will be available in Swedish and English and with new material.

Merry Christmas - Pink Paislee

I just love the mix of gold and red in the Snow Village collection and to kick off our 12 Days Of Handmade Holidays Event I created a layout in the ‘Spirit of Christmas.’

In Norway where I live we have something called “Nisser” – they kind of look like garden gnomes – and the red hat my daughter is wearing is a knitted  “nisselue” (Santa hat).  These “nisser” were believed to live in barns where they took care of the farm and the animals.

I love to layer several papers, doilies, tiny bags, and tags under my photos and this layout is all about layering. I even used a stack of gold tissue to soften up the edges of this darling photo!

When I was asked to provide step by step instructions I struggled a bit because I normally just cut at my papers without measuring to achieve the effect I want. My other favorite technique is adding subtle background patterns with stencils and spray mists so this project includes a quick step for adding color to your white cardstock before building your layers!
